Hello! I just wanted to say I listened to your podcast episode 23 yesterday and thought it was great! I’m a first time listener and new to online fandom (since HLV aired). I’ve spent a ton of time on Tumblr, …er collecting data.

I started with your short out-take about John and Mary chemistry and that lead me to listening to the whole thing while I did gardening. I really think it’d be great if you posted more short segments on Tumblr.

The Tumblr fandom would do well to listen to the part about Mary (Elephant in the room segment). Your discussion was so great and actually helped me a lot. I think verbal discussions can be so much better because you can hear the feeling behind it and of course you guys seemed well versed in all the sensitivities that people have. Some of you mentioned hurt between people you actually know, and luckily you could contact directly and sort it out. On Tumblr, it is often strangers just bashing at each other, and ruining the fun for everyone. It’s just not conducive for open dialogue when people strongly disagree.

Just by the way, I’m one of the “relates strongly with Sherlock” group, and I just wanted to hug the one of you (sorry didn’t get the names) that was speaking for that point of view. The feelings are complicated, so I hate when it gets boiled down to “you just don’t like her getting in the way of your ship”, “you’re a misogynist”, and stupid simplifications like that. And I finally understand why some of you like Mary so much. Her strong kick ass woman role model is what you like. And it’s not that I can’t appreciate that, but she’s kicking my boy’s ass (in more ways than one), so it really hurts. (You can not underestimate the depth of the hurt – I tear up just now thinking about it, it’s that bad).

So to wrap up, less Tumblr and more podcasts for me! Thanks!!

thank you for your very enjoyable discussions and roundtables. its a pleasure to listen to you!
although i am almost allways found on the listener and reader side of things, i`d like to contribute the following wee something to your mary-roundtable-discussion:
in their typical oh-so-very-clever-way of integrating acd-canon moffat and gatiss already killed mary morstan, in childbirth, in 1972 – deaded – and about the second mrs. watson we know next to nothing…acd- or otherwise…
in my opinion: perfectly done, moftiss, as ever!
